Omoiyari is the Japanese principal of cherishing differences between oneself and others.
It is a way of thinking and acting that aims for mutual understanding through examining otherís perspectives.
I was introduced to the concept of omoiyari by Junior Chamber International Japan. I was immediately hooked, as the concept has striking similarities with my work as director of CMC Ė Culture & Management Consulting. Since 1993, CMC has been helping people in organisations to act with omoiyari, but we just didnít know there was one word that summarizes it all.
With this website I aim to spread the idea of omoiyari in Europe, by offering information on the concept, how it works and how you, your team and your organisation can benefit from applying the omoiyari philosophy to establish positive change.
